All I can say, is, more power to you. I could no more make a kilt in 10 hours by the methods that I learned from Elsie Stuehmeyer (who apprenticed at Thomas Gordon's in the 1940s) than I could fly to the Moon.

it takes me a month. Period. Mind you now, I'm not working at this full-time. A few hours here and there and on weekends, when I don't have more pressing matters at hand.

All my kilts are 99% hand sewed, the 1% being the window in the lining where the under-apron strap goes through.

I gave up on perfection years ago, but striving for excellence is the rule. I have set the bar pretty high for myself, because I know if I take the time to do it right, it will look right and fit right in the end.

For me, it takes a month. I have never even tried to time a kilt because it would be an outrageous time, stopping and starting when I have an hour or so. It really adds up to the time. If I could only find 20 hours in a row, without interruption (no sleep, no eating, ...) then I could get a good time. But, I don't kilt for more than an hour or two at a time. It's all about the finished product for me. The process is just the path to the end of the kilt I'm working on and the beginning of the next kilt in the backlog.

I do enjoy seeing the finished product being worn.
