    No strings attached

A customer told me about this site.
Have you ever wondered about the mystic of Saville Row tailors? Here is a little blog of some of the best stories and tips from one of the truly "World Renown" cutters.

What's a cutter? That's the person who measures you, drafts the pattern, and cuts the fabric for your bespoke suit. Then it is sent to the tailor who does the stitching.

Have you ever wondered where the phrase "No strings attached" comes from?

    Enjoy.

Also have a look at his tip on how to use a ring thimble.

    Steve,

I love reading about the origins of words and phrases. Thanks for making my morning a little bit more fun.

One of my best friends is a tailor in the Saville Row tradition. His father (God rest is soul) was apprenticed there in the 40s and early 50s, coming to American on a bet that he couldn't make it as a tailor in the States. He showed them all by opening a shop in DC and making suits for presidents, senators, and DC "nobility".

At any rate, Mr. Field used to constantly remind my friend, "And make sure there's no strings attached!" when Will was making fabric orders. I always thought he was referring to some extra charge for delivery. Now I know what he was yelling about!
