Source for American/Bicentennial tartan?

Are there any CHEAP sources for the American/Bicentennial tartan material in a thick enough fabric for a kilt.

I like it, great for July 4th, Memorial day, flag day, etc, BUT I would rather not spend over $120 for the fabric to make a kilt out of it. There's not enough time for this year, but it has me "in the spirit."

Do I have to get a Sport Kilt in it and convert it into a better looking model?

By the way . . .

This is for ONE four yard box kilt!!!! To be a "casual" version, worn only on certain days, not to be one of my "nicer" ones.

The auction has ended, but you might want to contact the seller as he advertized as having 100+ yards of it in stock. You can see that this auction ended at less than $11 per yard.

I won an auction today on the same material, here is the link.I spent a little more on it that MacWage did, somewhere around 13.00 a yard (double width) With shipping it is going to end up being about $26 a yard for six yards. I though that was a pretty good deal.

It seems that the seller although has low feedback has very good feedback so far, so I am really looking forward to getting this fabric. I will say that my e-mails that I sent after MacWage got his, were not answered but buy checking back and seeing that there was another auction up, I was able to get some of the fabric. Once bidding on an auction, and having the item number and such, he did respond to my question about shippng costs. Six yards to the US is 38 GBP, which is steep, but when figured in to the 7.50 a yard double width price it seemed to be a great value.

My wife now has a built in Christmas present for me, that made her pretty excited.

I will update this thread when I get my fabric, hopefully I can get it before the big Philly kilt night so I can have the experts take a look at it.

MacWage, if you get yours first, since you have made a few kilts, please review it as well.

If you go over the 2Kg limit for the Post office Air Mail (cost of 2Kg small packet to US is 19.58 UK pounds) then you have to send by carrier, where the limit is 10Kg, but the cost is rather higher.

I'm almost tempted to buy some of the fabric myself but it is just a teeny bit too razzle dazzle to fit into my wardrobe, I think.
