New Kilt Package Builder now online

We've just put online a major revision to our Kilt Package Builder. It lets you build your own customised kilt outfit, starting from a quite large range of suggested outfits for any occasion. We think it's pretty unique in the way it lets you remove, add, or change items, as well as specifying tartans, options, etc. But most importantly, it's all designed to be as easy as pie to use.

If anyone has a few minutes to spare to have a look and give us honest feedback, we'd be really grateful!

Cheers

Nick :-)

Looks very easy to use to me, thanks for the update.

I like it. I don't believe that one size fits all and the ability to mix and match the package is good,

I understand that this would be a difficult thing to do, nut, it would be nice to be able to see the picture change as you changed selections. Considering the number of possible combinations this would be very difficult to do.

For the first time kilter with really deep pockets, this may well be the easiest way to go. Good job Nick.

If we look at this from the first time kilter's point of view and I hate sounding like a member of the fashion police, perhaps a pop-up warning about mixing dayware and formal might help. I was able to start with a PC formal outfit and add a a day wear sporran and a daywear sgian dubh. YES the web pages relating to the various item mention day vs fromal wear, however, for a first timer a second warring might be good.

They should have the option to over ride the warning, if for example they have a family formal sporran and want to get a day wear as part of the package.

As I said earlier I like the functions and think it will allow some individuallity in the process. Good work!

Thanks for the kind words guys. But on this occasion any criticisms (that we can maybe improve) would be even more welcome! So if anyone spots anything confusing or missing...

Changing the main image to reflect any changed pieces would, as you say, be a logistical nightmare. But we do change the mini-image for each component item, which can then be popped up as an enlarged version. And as for 'deep pockets'... hurumph! :-) We can't do much about the exchange rates, but you'll be hard pressed to find comparable quality goods at lower prices!

And yes Chris, we did think about this ourselves (advising/preventing inappropriate mixing). But we decided not to for a variety of reasons, including the fact that quite a few non-first time buyers use it to purchase sets of stuff to extend different parts of their wardrobe while taking advantage of the discount. And in fact we 'sanity check' all orders anyway, and the customer service team would generally check with a customer that they really meant to put together the outfit they had if we had a hunch they were a first timer getting it a bit wrong. But in the end, the customer is always right!!
