G'day Draelore,

Interesting thought. Theoretically each size up will add an inch... so there might be some logic in your musing.

I get lost with all this sizing jazz. My Argyll is an off the rack 44R (I normally wear a 42 suit jacket even though my chest does measure 44 inches) and I find that the waist is a little large (I'm skinny in the waist - 31 inches) and am about to have the Argyll waist taken in by a tailor. I do believe that the 44 Regular Argyll has sleeves that are about an inch longer than the 42 suit jacket I have... so ordering short as you suggest might make perfect sense.

Crikey... might just be easier to be measured by a tailor and then order the closest jacket to the spec... or have one made-to-measure.

By the way, contrary to everything I wear a 40R waistcoat/vest that fits my chest and my slim waist! Go figure!!!

I bet none of that helped!!

Scotty

Please, please, please. Do yourself a favor and check the manufacturer or sellers sizing chart and measuring instructions. Do exactly as it says for that manufacturer or seller.

NEVER use another manufacturers or sellers measuring instructions!!!

NEVER use what you think your size is from another article from some other manufacturer.

NEVER assume you know what size you are just because that is what you have worn in the past.

It's really quite simple. Find the Manufacturers or sellers measuring instructions and use a tape measure. If you don't own a tape measure visit your local fabric shop or sewing center and buy a good one. Heck, it's only a couple of bucks.

For the Scotweb Balmoral Argyle Tweed Jackets the measuring instructions can be found as a link on this page.

Many Thanks

So match the actual chest and sleeve measurements rather than a generic size. Ok, makes sense.

I appreciate the input guys
