Dropkick Murphy's Tartan? Rocky's been holding out...
So, I noticed SteveB's post in the "Improper Bostonian" thread about a Dropkick Murphy's tartan. I wonder if anyone noticed who designed it?? Rocky sure is cranking out lots of new tartan designs these days. This one's particularly neat seeing as there are MANY kilted Dropkick Murphy's fans among the Rabble. What's the word on this one Rocky? Are you going to offer this to the general public??

I'm glad you like the tartan! It's 1 of 3 that I designed for them and it's the one that Ken and Scruffy liked the best.
Here's the "official" story from STA's database:
Designed by Rocky Roeger of US Kilts for an Irish Rock band in the USA called Dropkick Murphys, named after a rehab clinic in Boston Massachusettes which was known as "Dropkick Murphys". Dropkick as in an action to beat something and Murphys as in the Irish beer. The design was based on colours frequently used by the band and inspired by the Wallace Hunting tartan that Scruffy wears.
I designed the tatan for them about 2 years ago. If you're looking for a kilt made in that tartan you'll have to ask the band (email should be on their website) when it'll be available... it will only be available from us when it does become available.

Thanks for the info, Rocky. Other than the obvious Pipe Bands, I wonder how many "Bands" have their own tartan. I know The White Stripes do...
Neat story on the tartan and the band's name I NEVER knew that.

I concur. Love the darks and the greens, very nice tartan indeed. And for such a fun band! I will now have to bug them about getting a kilt in it!!! Thanks for the find, Bradley!!!

Oops,
I better cool off my search engines. i didn't mean to start a kilt revolution. I had been bored one night and felt like playing with the ferret on the STA site. There are many cool tartans that have been registered for various causes, groups and commercial interests as well as the obvious ...Clans.
