First USA Kilts Wool Kilt
This is my 27th USA Kilt - but my first Wool. Its Cameron Modern in 16 ounce strome from Lochcarron Mills. Two months ago Rocky had a "deal" on some extra fabric and I grabbed it. My 3 great grandmother Catherine Cameron married my 3 great grandfather John Macdonald and they emmigrated from Staffin, Skye to Cape Breton Island Nova Scotia in 1854. Wanted to honor her and my Cameron blood.

This is my first 5 yard wool kilt so its a new thing for me. Doesn't seem fair to compare it to a hand sewn kilt - so I won't. Biggest thing I noticed is that it's very light for a 16 ounce wool kilt, but doesn't take a genius to figure out why. It wears well and being lighter seems to have a bit more of that coveted "swish."

Workmanship is there as we've all learned to count on from Rocky. And the size was right on in the center hole of each kilt strap. The embossed kilt straps were new to me and a nice touch.

It "field tested" well hiking in the desert, and later in the supermarket.

Nice kilt. I love your postings. And again, I love your backyard. Great landscapes.

Darned right you did! You beat me to it by a few hours. But, I have to admit, you look a lot better in it than I would.
It must be that Cameron blood you have in your veins and/or the red-rock environment in those great pictures.
Watch out for those Kiowa Camerons. I hear they can be very clannish.

Well hey...had no clue. But it is a fine looking tartan.
Them Kiowa's gonna have to wade through a lot of Navajo, Hopi, and Paiute to get here.
There's a town on the Navajo reservation named Cameron - down on the Little Colorado River as it starts to form its canyon into the Grand Canyon and at the turn off from Hwy 89 onto Hwy 64 for the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.
Believe it was named for some guy named Cameron who had a trading post there.

Looks good Ron, wear it in good health. I love my 5 yard wool kilt I got from Rocky 6 months ago.

I'll be going the opposite direction shortly. My first USAk was an 8 yard 16 ounce bought for piping gigs, but worn more and more frequently now. I'll be ordering a semi-trad soon.
