Here's how MY kid looked when he started middle school
And here's how he looks now as a junior in high school
Hair matters not when you have the right attitude, though I do think that as a parent YOU are the role model. Try to be less judgmental especially in front of your children.

For me, there is nothing in this world that holds the same fascinating appeal as watching the backside of well kilted man...

The thing with hair is that, depending on the season, it grows at a reasonably regular rate. It doesn't arrive overnight - unlike forty years later when it seems to leave overnight. So everybody at the dance would have seen his hair get longer over the last two to three years. They have also seen him, and his father, in a kilt many times before. So the shock value would have been about nil.
I say well done to him.

Your son looks outstanding. I can appreciate your pride. I was quite proud of my son the first time he wore a kilt - although he was much older. Please do let us know how the dance turned out for your son. If I were a betting man, I'd bet it was a grand success!

A young man with independence and courage has a good start on becoming a man with those same qualities.

He looks great and has the confidence to wear a kilt because he sees his pops in one all the time! kudos to him and his choice to wear the kilt!
I hope the school is as open minded.
I will stop wearing a kilt as soon as you show me a picture of Jesus wearing trousers. ~The GrainReaper.

You're posting on the wrong website mate! You wanna get over to "my-way-or-the-highway.com". You don't want to be wasting your time amongst all the non prejudiced, un-bigotted people here.

Message from "Sinbad" (his words not mine -Jamie)
Thank you for all the compliments. I had a great time. There were comments, but they went away quickly. The Principal told me as I came in "if anyone gives you trouble tell me".
I told everyone who tried to bully me what he said and they backed off. The dance was fun. There were a lot of conga lines.
When I started school and was getting bullied about my hair I almost decided to cut it. But my Dad told me that if they made me cut my hair they probably would find something else to bully me for. So if I wanted to cut it that was fine but I should cut it because I wanted to, not them. I obviously decided not to cut it!
Also about my hair and me looking like a girl.
(1) I like my hair like this.
(2) If you can't think of anything good to say, don't say anything at all.
