    Idiot Proof Kilts

Just washed my Ireland's National semi-traditional (gentle cycle). Was hiking in it yesterday up a canyon to see some petroglyphs. Got it dirty, sandy, and sweaty.

But, I forgot to take off the kilt pin before tossing it in the washing machine.

Noticed the kilt pin when I hung the kilt up to dry. No apparent damage to the kilt. The kilt pin is now nice and shiny.

No I've never put a kilt pin through the wash cycle, but a couple of times my car keys have been left in a pocket and gone through.
    All's well that ends well.

I don't wear a kilt pin on my USAKs. I have three casuals, all with the patch there. So, I guess no "risk" of that. However, Nikki washed my work mobile phone in my pants pocket the other night. Lucky me, they replaced it with a Moto RAZR.

Too bad they didnt replace it with a crackberry.

I am eagerly awaiting my kilt pin from Robin to go on the USA Semi Trad, Black Stewart, I hope I don't wash it.

Nah, glad they didn't (believe it or not.) I have a Crackberry as my personal phone (though a large portion of the email traffic, and other data, is tied to work.) I just wouldn't want to carry two. The RAZR is actually perfect because it doesn't bulge in a pocket or the top Nightstalker sporran pocket like old MOTO flip they issued me

    Which one did you choose?

I think you will be very happy with Robin's work.

    Cheers

Not to hijack the thread but since you asked

I am sure I will be happy with it as well.

Never had anything like that go thru the wash. Sounds like a good plus for USAKilts.

HOWEVER, last December during one of our worst snows, I asked my wife what was banging in the dryer. She didn't know but came in the office a little later and said, "I found out what was making the noise." Then handed me my cell phone. Took the battery out and set it over one of the furnace vents for the weekend. Put the battery back in and it worked. Samsung make good phones

    Been there, done that

Yeah, Ron, I did the same thing. No damage to the kilt and the pin was a bit shinier.
If they outlaw guns, can we go back to using swords?
