    Kilt Snapping.

My first kilt received it's first washing.

    I was amazed.

After pulling it from the washer, I gave it a hearty whip snap! and BAM! All the pleats fell into place. And now it somehow looks better then it did before going into the washer.

I hope folk understand what I am saying... Ever whip out a blanket to make it cover the bed?

My only complaint... One wash, and now the velcro is riddled with lint. Boo. More reason to buy a traditional I guess. No velcro.

check at a local sewing shop for a velcro cleaning tool. They're cheap and very handy.

I always stick the velcro together before washing. Works great!
    Kilts are garments, not costumes!

When I saw the subject line I thought that it read kilt "swapping". Sounded kinda kinky so I had to investigate.

Seriously though, Bear offers sound advice when he says to mate the opposing Velcros before doing a laundry.

I had wondered if you guys opened up (un-buckled, etc.) your kilts before washing.

I will keep Bear's advice in mind for any I get with velcro. So far, all my kilts have buckles. Should I leave them buckled or unbuckle them before washing

I, too, close up the velcro before washing. No klingons on the kilt when it comes out.

Ditto on Bear's comment. On washing, stick the velcro together and throw it in...
