Lowered prices!

Hey Guys,

I wanted to let you all know that a couple weeks ago (sorry I forgot to mention it earlier), we lowered the prices on our 5 Yard Wool kilts (were $350 - $390, NOW $320 - $350*) and our Premier 8 Yard Kilts (were $540 - $580, NOW $495 - $545*). We also lowered the prices of our 5 Yard and Premier Packages as well. As always, shipping over $200 is FREE (in the US) and all of our US Customers would not have to pay any US Customs charges (we absorb those costs)

Secondly, we lowered prices on our Private Label sporrans (Day, Semi Dress AND Dress). They are 'on sale' for now, but I believe that may end up being the new price.

Why did we do this? We re-negotiated a few things and got better prices on sporrans and were able to save a few dollars on select ones, so we figured it would be a good time with a slow economy to bring the prices down a bit. If you're looking for a quality Scottish made sporran at a great price, check them out.

For those who are going to ask, no, we didn't lower our Casual or Semi Traditional prices.

* "Rare Select" and "Old and Rare" tartans still carry a small surcharge.

I hope that the fact that the British pound is at it's lowest level in a while also is helping moderate the prices somewhat.

There needs to be a good slogan to go along with this:

Down with prices, Up With kilts?

Our prices are the only thing about our kilts that should fall below your knees?

We've kilt our prices, sporran-ing you some money?

While the slightly lowered GBP helps, it wasn't our determining factor. While we've been in business (over 7 years), the GBP has gone WAY UP and WAY down from $1.37 at it's very lowest to over $2 at it's highest. We've not changed the prices on our kilts since we started making them (nor most of our accessories).

If we fluctuate our prices with the dollar, I'd be changing prices on our website every other week and that in ITSELF would be a full time job.

Honestly, the price change was b/c of reduced costs which we pass on to our customers. My theory isn't that we could make higher margins (and therefore more money) per product, but that if we lower the prices, the customer gets an advantage and we sell MORE of the items. The more items we sell, the more money we make. It's a different way of marketing our products so that our customers can 'win' as well.

Sorry... that was a long winded answer to a 1 sentence comment.
