Some pics of a FINISHED kilt in the German Heritage tartan (Sent to A_Hay in Germany!):

I also have another kilt (the American Heritage tartan) sent to another member of XMARKS. Once I get the pics of it on him, I'll post them here!

Those are all very nice I can not decide if I like the American Heritage or the German American best. It's the white stripe that really sets it off on both of them.

    Those look great Rocky.

Is there any significance of the colors used.

I like both of the Heritage tartans the best but all look great.

They're mostly chosen b/c of the flag colors, but here's the "official" descriptions:

    American Heritage Tartan:

This tartan was designed by William C. Roeger III to honor Americans with or without Celtic heritage. It is a private fashion tartan designed for ANYONE to wear, regardless of clan affiliation. The colors red, white and blue were chosen to represent the colors of the American flag. The color black was chosen in remembrance of the brave men and women who have died in defense of our country.

    German Heritage Tartan:

This tartan was designed by William C. Roeger III to honor anyone with German heritage. It is a private fashion tartan designed for ANYONE to wear, regardless of clan affiliation or nationality. The colors were chosen to reflect the colors in the German flag.

    German American Tartan:

This tartan was designed by William C. Roeger III to honor German Americans and their contributions to American History. It is a private fashion tartan designed for ANYONE to wear, regardless of clan affiliation or nationality. The colors chosen in this tartan represent the flags of both countries, America and Germany.

    Simply beautiful!

    I have just one question.

Who the heck is this William C. Roeger III? And why is he trying to pass himself off as my friend Rocky?

WCR3 is my evil twin. He's the one that designs tartans for me to crave and lust after so that I must spend money to register and weave.

The resons behind the tartans... I'm more than 1/2 German and we only had 1 tartan (to my knowledge... the German National). While I had that tartan woven for me and think it's OK, it never really moved me as something "beautiful" or cool in design. I decided that us Germans need some more choices... hence the 2 different designs with darker colors.

The American Heritage tartan... I felt the same way about the "American" tartans that are out there now. The American and the Bicentennial tartans (to me) are OVERPOWERING in the "red white and blue"-ness. I wanted a darker, more somber "American" tartan, so I designed mine with a lot of black as the base and darker reds and blues in it.

Hope this info helps understand the reasoning behind them.

Also... a BIG thank you to Matt Newsome for letting me know how the registering process works. He laid out the general process of registering so I knew what to expect. He's truly a Scholar and a Gentleman (how many people can you say that about and mean BOTH?).
