I know with my backpacking experience, that teflon wears off after a while. Is this fact or fiction? If so is there a way to reapply it or does it need a reapplication after a few washes? Thanks for all of your time.

Yes, over repeated washings, it will EVENTUALLY come off the fabric. Most IMPORTANT thing to remember is NOT to use Fabric Softener as that will take it off right away.

I've never personally tried to re-apply it to my kilts, so I'm not sure how well it would work. I personally have 3 PV kilts that are YEARS old (4 years, 4 years and 3 years) and mow my grass in them and do 'dirty jobs' in them and they don't have any stains or anything...

I know that Red Wing boots makes a non-silicone spray that they say is safe for waterproofing fabric without discoloring it. Leather Protector by Red Wing Know anything about this stuff and/or whether it would be a safe alternative after the Teflon has worn off? Thanks!
