Well, our kilts have arrived and we are, of course, thrilled!

Here are some pics of my long awaited "Pink Death" camo mini.


It's very comfie, giving me a place to put my hands.





Very nice wide belt loops, so I can steal Panache's kilt belts (shown here with just a regular wide belt). Do you like my kilt pin?





The obligatory pleat shot, showing the attractive logo.





This skirt is built like a tank, very solid and comfortable. I can carry everything I need in the side cargo pockets and the under apron pocket (not pictured here). Also, Steve made it adjustable with four snaps on each side at the top of the apron-so I'm allowed to indulge over the holidays and it will still fit me!

I'm sure my dear husband is chomping at the bit, waiting to post his pictures, so I'm going to hand over to him. It will demonstrate how we don't always match, but we always do tend to take things as far as possible to either extreme.

So you have seen how my lovely Flame-Haired Celtic Amazon Goddess chose a "Pink Death Camo" contemporary mini kilt from Steve.

I went to the the other extreme and decided to order one of Steve's traditionally styled kilts, but with some decidedly nontraditional characteristics.

Having seen both The Wizard of BC's and walkerk's wonderful Isle of Skye tartan Freedom Kilts, and because Kent and I are the Bobbsey twins (not to mention trying to keep up with the McMurdos of this world!) I went with the exact same kilt.


So on to the pictures!

A very well made kilt, a very beautiful tartan, and a very nice fit . I did make one change though, I requested that this kilt come minus the unnecessary third strap.



Pleated to "No Stripe". My lovely wife and I had some interesting discussions with Steve via Skype about pleating options and this is popular for a reason, it is just beautiful.



The purple hose are Lewis hose from Matt Newsome at the Scottish Tartans museum, a perfect match with the Isle of Skye tartan. The shirt is from Kevin Kinney at Empire Canvas Works, it is an updated version of a classic shirt (and because of this a perfect match to Steve's kilt)

I did mention that this kilt has some "nontraditional characteristics" here is one:

The F-H.C.A.G.'s kilt has the same type of under apron pocket. But the picture of her reaching into it.... and what she was carrying there...it ...err..well...this a family friendly forum after all....anyway

The F-H.C.A.G. has an under apron pocket on her mini kilt, take my word for it.

So how does this kilt look out and about?

So I headed out for a stroll with the dog in the foothills of Los Gatos.















The material is 13 oz. wool from Marton Mills and seemed to have a nice swing. Which is to be expected, as the Wizard of BC has all taught us all,

Swish +Swagger= Swoon


Jock Scot will be disappointed to know that I didn't spot any buffalo on my walk

I'm sure most of you are more interested in further pictures of the luscious Flame-Haired Celtic Amazon Goddess in her mini. Though an Autumn walk in the woods with a tweed jacket and a dog are hard to beat for a traditional kilted look

Wow!

You both look great in your kilts. I am happy to see couples both getting kilts and enjoying the experience.

I just bought a couple of remnants of plaid/tartan for the Mrs. and I, so hopefully she too will jump on the tartan train and have something made out of the cloth.

The photos look really great!

Somehow I don't think a well coordinated pocket square is going to compete with my sexy wife!

There are a few interesting differences in the internal construction of Steve's Freedom Kilts kilts and traditionally made kilts like those that Barb makes. For instance Steve didn't put or need a liner on my kilt. But I will not go into the details because...

(1) I don't want to spill Steve's secrets

(2) As a non tailor /seamstress I would undoubtedly screw up trying to describe those details.

I will say that Steve has looked at the debate of whether or not a kilt belt should be fitted through the loops in back with amusement. He told me that (1) They shouldn't be (2) Almost everyone does, so therefore (3) he has designed his Freedom Kilts to structured in such a way that they can be worn with a belt through the loops without pulling on the kilt.

That said, back to pictures

Here is my Isle of Skye Freedom Kilt being worn in a dressy manner.





Well my lovely wife, I think that my new Freedom Kilt dresses up pretty nicely, the Fergusson Britt sporran, Braemar Jacket, and my new ghillie brogues look rather smart!
