| | | Freedom kilt experience
I have frequented this wonderful site intermittenly due to my job, being often away and out of electronic connectivity.
I must share my experience with Freedom Kilts, specifically Steve of Freedom Kilts. I placed an order through email while I was deployed and for some reason or another the information that ended up into production, so to speak, was inaccurate. Steve quickly apologized and sent me two Celtic belts, brown and black, that I had originally asked for in the order. Let us say that he was very generous in his response.
Moreover, I placed another order with Steve to have a cargo kilt made for me in time for my Hawaiian vacation. I hope to wear nothing but kilts there in August. I am going to wear contemporary instead of tartan for the coolness factor (as in temperature).
I highly recommend Freedom kilts to anyone who is interested in a custom kilt; especially if you're considering a Utilikilt Survivor. For a tiny little bit more you can have a much better made kilt with a lot more cloth.
Thank you, Steve.
And to all of you, thank you for inspiring my kilted awakening.
Best Regards,
Matt

Steve is indeed an upstanding gentleman curmudgeon. Trust you ordered the front slash pockets, they're so convenient and well brilliant. Welcome from southern Ontario.

Anyone lucky enough to spend any time at all with Steve will know in their hearts that they have been in the presence of a real... well... Steve.
His kilts are the cat's pajamas...

Steve? Who?? Oh! The ex-patriot Marine kiltmaker guy...that guy....
Have owned three Freedom Kilts...know what of you speak.
Was kilted in Hawaii last year myself...it IS humid...
Best part of kilts and Hawaii is wearing them on the long flight over and back. Much more comfie than the alternative.
If you're headed for Maui be sure and hit Mulligan's if the Celtic Tigers are playing.
And check out www.mauiceltic.com I like their shirts and they keep a good event calendar for Celtic events in Hawaii.

I agree, my first real kilt is a Leatherneck tartan Box Pleat. The fit is great, the communication was wonderful. Steve would drop an email, to let me know the status of my kilt, or to make sure I did not drop off the face of the Earth.

Matt,
It is good to see you join us on the forum.
Pics, we need pics! I would love to have pics on the website of your Kilt as it was striking.
Your Kilt was a real pleasure to work on. It got me inspired to make another Leatherneck for myself.
Let's keep in touch.
