Industrial Kilt

In my last post in this section, I thanked Steve for sewing the Macbitseach tartan into a dress model kilt and mentioned having ordered an Indie/Rocker model from him. From the time I'd seen photos of them on this site, I knew I wanted one. When Steve actually called me (I mentioned this in a previous post), we got to talking about it.

My initial thought was to get a khaki colour in the poly/cotton material. While Steve said he thought it would turn out very nice, he had a hunch that a jalapeno green 100% cotton heavyweight would look very nice indeed. His understated manner and that fact that he was not the least bit pushy got me to thinking. I've got a number of pairs of Bills Khakis, so I thought getting something in a different colour would be fine, and the fact that the proprietor, who has the material in his hands, recommended jalapeno green really intrigued me (unless it was a clever ploy on his behalf to move some deadstock). Nonetheless, I decided to go with the green and no cargo pockets.

It arrived this week, and I had the opportunity to wear it to an EFAP committee meeting at work on Robbie Burns Day. By now people are used to seeing me in kilts, but the Industrial is only my second solid colour, after a brown cord O'Neille boxpleat. It received numerous compliments.

Let me just say that this will not be my last. It is extremely comfortable and fits like a glove. Yet again, Steve and his folks have done good!

And at the speed at which I get pictures up, I expect I should have something up by Wednesday
