    Ah! What may don't know but which you'll appreciate is that I'm still a serving Officer. Just finished 2 years at HQ 2 Med Bde and off to Upavon in the New Year (could I be any further from home and still be in the UK?). One day I'll be able to devote myself to tartan, angling and the hills full time but until then, it's not a bad life .

    Salisbury Plain is a bit hilly and what is more the trout fishing is pretty damn good too. Sadly there are not so many salmon in the rivers down there than there used to be. But its not all bad and I can think of few better places in the UK to be posted!

    They also have some excellent ales down there... if you aren't going to take the opportunity to open the Laphroaig.
