    Scotland's World Cup qualifiers

Well, what chance my beloved Scotland against Macedonia on Saturday and Holland next week?

I think we'll beat Macedonia but only draw against the Dutch, thereby ending our hopes of getting to South Africa 2010. Having said that, if McFadden can do this, as he did against the French, we're in with a shout:

Unfortunately, I'll be at a wedding reception for the Macedonia game, kilted, of course, but hope to be texted with developments. I should be able to watch the Holland game live on the telly.

    Any thoughts?

i'm feeling a little less buoyant. thinking macedonia will play cautious knowing that scotland struggle both at home and to score goals. they may sit back and wait for a chance to counter (and there will be chances...). 0-1 or 1-2 to the visitors.

as for wednesday, unless holland send a full second team i just don't see any way scotland can manage a result from this match.

praying that i'm wrong. it wouldn't be the first time someone told me i knew sweet f.a. about football...

Glasgow will be Saltire city today - wish I was there. There were still a few tickets for both games up until yesterday.

If we win today I'll try and get up to Edinburgh to watch the Holland game. I went up to watch the Italy game and had a great time in a pub on the Grassmarket. The capital was awash with the Tartan Army that day.

    Here's hoping!

I must admit I fail to get excited with Scotland playing in the world cup or even Europe. What they need is a good kick up the backside and a lot more money spent producing some real talent. Compared to many teams they are a joke. All Scotland goes wild if they get through a few early stages yet no one expects much of them to be honest, which is a shame. If they actually won a world cup the shock would probably finish off half the nation.

wednesday is going to be a very unproductive afternoon at work... here's hoping the dutch send an under-17 side to play the match... and that scotland don't finish the worst of the nine second place teams... and that they draw a beatable opponent for the playoffs... and that they can get a result over the two legs of the playoffs...

too many pieces have to fall into place. let's start with a miracle on wednesday...

I hope we can get his yellow card removed on appeal.

He made that look easy... a few deft touches and an easy little tap. Sweet.
