Need a new sporran strap..

Hello,

First post here, hoping someone can help. Was at a wedding recently and my sporran spontaneously fell to the floor (wasn't even a very lively dance!). The strap has come away from the back of the sporran on one side and needs fixing back on.

I originally bought the sporran in Perth, but now live in Northampton so taking it back to the shop is not really an option. Does anyone know of anywhere in the local(ish) area that might be able to repair this for me?

to be honest I would thought that the cost of a repair would be more than the cost of a new leather strap. I have ordered one from Scotweb which I havent received yet as they were made to order. I belive that Nick Fiddes has now arranged to have these in stock as there is a little bit of a delay for handmade products. The cost of the strap is less than £10 so that to me for a handmade sporran strap is a bit of a bargain.

The strap is not broken, its come away from the back of the sporran at one end so needs re-attaching. A new strap will still need to be attached to the back of the sporran - is that something you are going to do with your new strap? If so, how?

Do you mean the flap of leather on the back of the sporran that you feed the strap/chains through. If so you definitely need a leatherworker. Failing that a cobbler should be able to sort it out. Someone on here will definitely know the answer.

Yep, both leather flaps have come off. It's only just clicked that they're not part of the strap! D'oh. Leatherworker or cobbler - good idea!

Northampton(England?) should know more than a bit about leather! A good saddlers will be your best bet, yellow pages will be worth a look.
