    1st DIY

Hey all just wanted to hop on and let you know that with a push in the right direction from sirdaniel1975 last night my fist DIY kilt was started. If all goes well I have a Oatmeal/Navy fasion tartan and I have been giving thought to a large set Blackwatch, all from Jo-Ann's. Well here are the first pic's.....

I thought box pleats would look best with this tartan, they just make the stripes jump, and I think it will make the back flow great. I will keep you all updated. By the way I am also working on some kilt pins, I know I have one to many irons in the fire.

Looks like you will be having a right fine kilt there. I wish you the best of luck!

    re

Looks good. What is that pattern you have in the picture. Did you get it from JoAnns as well.

Looks like a Black Stewart. If they have that at JoAnns fabrics then I'm definately going to get some.

Yes it is from JoAnns. I saw it from a far and almost ran over two old ladies to get to it. I got 4yds so I should have enough to make the wife a wrap to match. Thanks for all the great comments.

Looks great so far. Please note and post any issues you run into during the process for the rest of us newbies who are considering taking the plunge into a DIY kilt.

    Thanks,

    Will
