Bang, Bang!!!

I did two kids desert digicamo kilts last night and today.

My oldest nephew, who lives in Southern California, wanted a kilt for Christmas. Well, we didn't get much notice and after talking to him about it, he was keen on a MacKenzie ("Smart" is a family name on his mothers side, that's a sept of the MacKenzie's). so I had Rocky at USA kilts make that one up. However, over Christmas I asked the youngest boy...

"Dude, if I made you a kilt in camouflage..like those pants you're putting on, would you wear it?"

I got a super-enthusiastic YES! So I dug into my stash, found the desert digicamo that Way2Fractious gave me a couple of years ago, and they're done. The youngest nephew and the middle one are getting digicamo kilts. They took me about 3-3.5 hours each. They're nothing spectacular, just your basic 10-pleat, sewn-down pleats, normal waistband, close-with-velcro causal kilts, but it'll be a kick to get the guys in 'em. I made them about an inch bigger than the measurements I took, 'cause boys grow like weeds, you know? The youngest will get his in late February, and hopefully he won't have expanded three inches in all directions by then. Hopefully I'll get pics.

I've found that little ones tend to grow vertically faster than horizontally. You might consider putting in generous hem that can be let out

Too Late!

But I "measured generously" and then I added another inch, especially in the length so while they'll be kind of long for now, not horribly long, just a bit long, maybe they'll be able to wear 'em for a year.

Alan, your nephews really have a great uncle (not to be confused with a Great-uncle. ) Look forward to seeing the photos.

What a fantastic Uncle you are! Here's hoping they can wear them for a long time!
