    blade blanks.....

hey ...i know a few of you guys have made your own sgians and dirks...but has anybody tackled a basket hilt or claymore?
A friend of mine is looking to make a two handed sword, and was wondering if blade blanks that big were available?

I've never done a basket hilt, but I have done a cup hilt for some Rattan fighters (SCA) I've tried many times to do a nice looking basket style hilt and the result is always the same. poop. Now, I am not a very skilled metal worker. I am really only a novice.
