Bog Oak questions

I was wondering if anyone has used bog oak as a handle material for dirks or sgians. If they have where did you get the bog oak blanks? Also how was it to carve and/or work with?

Thanks,

hylander

Have you done a web search? I would imagine that these are most likely available from suppliers ultimately in Ireland, Britain or Scandinavia, though North American bog oak, I am sure, exists.

Yeah, I've done a quick search and not coming up with much. Just thought someone in the community might have been down this road before.
