camouflage kilt hose

I've noticed a few folks at games and other places wearing camo kilts, and was wondering if anyone has ever seen camo kilt hose? If not, would anyone be interested? I've not seen them either, but would be willing to make some. What do you think?

I have yarn in camoflage colours - it is just an ordinary space dyed yarn, but in a green/brown colourway.

I'll have to find it out - I bought a couple of pounds of it when I saw it, wound it into balls and then never did anything with it.

I do have some hose which are rather strikingly tiger striped, which are the result of knitting with the yarn doubled. They are boot hose and not intended for public viewing - they might frighten the horses.

I have a half done blanket in camoflage colours too - that is several different cotton yarns knitted at random. I wonder where that went.

The problem with having such a large stash of yarn (and other things) in a fairly large house is that it is all too easy to lose things, even quite large projects.

Of course if it was all tidy it would be harder for things to be mislaid...

If you can get space dyed yarn it would just be a matter of knitting a long 'single colour' sock - perhaps in rib so you would not have to alter the number of stitches so any colour effect would be consistent all down the leg.

If you could get fine yarns in the different colours you could make a patterned sock - with really fine yarns you could combine them in different ways and knit an argyle pattern. I buy industrial yarns, which are very fine and knit two or more together for interesting effects.

You could always tie-dye some white hose using green and brown dyes. Now that's a good use for all those horrid white hose you've got lurking in the back of your drawer!

Usually I've seen people pick a solid that matches. You don't wear camouflage socks, tshirts, etc in BDU's, so I figure I wear the same color kilt hose as the tshirt I'd wear. Or forgo the hose and wear flip flops as I do; the Florida way.

Ah yes, the dreaded accumulation fairy at work again! I don't have that trouble with fabric, but my wife does. I have a problem with hardwood. . . . not enough to make anything really useful, but I just cannae bear to throw any of it away. . . . . An addiction at least as bad as the kilt one

Must get more wood . . .

Must get more tartan . . .!

I'd go with a solid hose but camo flashes. I always add a set with the camo kilts.

No wonder the yarn and blanket have not come to my attention recently.

I have been thinking of trying to knit the patterned part of some argyle hose on my knitting machine, using the intarsia technique and seaming them up the back of the leg, then doing the heel sole and toe plain - possibly on double pointed needles so as to be sure of no ridges.

I had thought of doing black/grey/white so as to go with my black kilt, but the kilts I tend to wear most often are DPM, and I could create mixtures from three colours of very fine yarn to aproximate the colours in the material.

I have no idea when I could get around to doing some experiments, but it would be an interesting exercise in colour matching - something for the brighter days I think - to get the right shades and contrasts.

I have the space-dyed (variegated in the US) yarn, as well. I was thinking exactly what you posted, about working them in a simple rib and let the colors work out however they would.
I'm not suggesting that anyone should wear these; I just wondered if anyone had seen them or wanted to see them. I plan to make a pair of boot socks for my neighbor who's a deer hunter, and that gave me the idea for the kilt hose.
