    Cetic Crook Sticks

This is actually two separate pieces of wood, ash and birch connected at the center with a piece of elk antler. It is 52 1/2 inches tall and has several zoomorphic images carved in the shank and a thistle in the handle. This is hopefully the first of many crook style taller sticks, as I am working my way to cromachs. Enjoy.

Very impressive laddie! Another job well done!

My staff still brings bright comments where ever I go. Especially when I put the tiny SANTA hat on it.

That is superb kilted Carver, you have an exceptional talent, and I am green with envy The carvings and the antler spacer are certainly unique. I wish you all the best for your cromachs project

    Fine work, as always.
Did you steam bend the crook, or tie up a green sapling and let it grow into the curve?

Thanks every one. I am in the stages of building some jigs to hopefully do some horn bending. I am finding ALOT of use for the book: STICK MAKING, A Complete Course by Andrew Jones and Clive George. I'd have to say it is the most informative and helpful book I have seen on the matter. The crook came as a blank with the bend already in place so I just did all of the other stuff to it.

    Cool!

When your up & running we'll have to talk

I've always wanted a curly horned one myself, like the one to the far right (below), though I also like the middle one as well

...these last two pics were on the older closed thread that I posted in, but somehow they've since disappeared:

Anyhow, I think a stick like the one above coupled with the rams horn would look the biz!

Those are very cool, I too like all of them, but the one in the center, I am liking it more. I dig the blackthorn knobby look. I have made a couple that have deer antler that I use as thumb sticks, they work good for shooting sticks as well.
