    Cones?

    Hello All,

Where can a DIY type get the larger sized metal cones for a sporran? I keep transferring my one set between three rigs.

    Cheers,

    Kevin.

One fairly easy way is to roll your own. Go to a craft store and get some heavy metal foil, wear gloves, cut into rounded shapes, and roll around a small dowell or pencil. Trim up the edges with heavy scissors, file and smooth the edges and crimp the top around what-ever will be hanging down.

You'll mess up a few, before you get the hang of it, but it works.

L&M sells this kind of sporran supply. They don't sell to the puvlic, but you can order through one of their retailers (like the Scottish Tartans Museum gift shop, to pick just a completely random example....).

I don't know cost off hand, but I can find out for you. They've been great about sending me replacement tassels and that sort of thing for people's sporrans in the past.

You can view their stuff at www.landmhighland.com

    To thy self be true..

    Duh.

What is it that I do for a living?

I've been carrying this around INSIDE my sporrans. It's my silver thimble. Now to find a matched set of three!

No - Put three different ones together for variety. Or find two that match and put the different one in the middle.
