Cufflinks & Kilt-pin

heres a few things ive made at the pottery night class , cufflinks fired at approx 1000` c and glazed with a turquoise blue glaze 15mm wide
,i plan to make a few more of these that way i can colour coordinate with my ties or garters





and heres the kilt pin I've made using porcelain clay
i used the turquiose blue glaze again to represent night and the mint green for the moon i was after a lunar solar come night time look without going all "celtic" i had planned to do the sun in a light yellow type color but felt the white of the porcelain was enough ,
its approx 54mm wide just the right size for a kilt pin

Just curious, where did you plan to have the yellow colour on this?

Excellent work, Scott. I think that the cuff link is an under-valued item. If I wear a tie, I aim to have cuff links as well.

the section in the centre next to the mint green to represent the sun was my intended train of thought ... i just thought about the eclipse i saw back in `99 when i made the piece initially, i was aiming for a "celtic "theme but decided to go modern scots

ive yet to wear my kilt without a shirt and tie and cufflinks to me are a must when wearing a shirt ,they just belong on a shirt in my view even when i have buttons i tend to remove them just to get the cufflinks on

That's a neat idea, Skauwt. I never got around to attempting to make a ceramic cantle, but I would think the low fire ceramics would be better for that type of thing: less warping and running glaze etc.

same here ive yet to make a ceramic cantle myself , every time i`m about to make something i think about it but end up doing other things ,

i think id be best buying a cheap sporran mind you to experiment on .... i thought about using my seal skin sporran but the thought of taking it apart stops me
