Custom double-buckle kilt belts

You may recall a while back I posted about making a double-buckle kilt belt for myself. Several of you expressed interest in it and wanted to know if I would consider making them for sale.

I've had a bit of a hard time finding decent quality hides that are suitable for making more of these, but I'm pleased to announce that I finally found some. And over the weekend, I made myself another belt from one of the hides so now I have both brown and black ones. I tweaked my pattern a bit as well.

Anyway, for those who are interested, I can now offer to custom make these style belts. The base price is $55 including shipping within the USA via USPS Priority Mail. That price is for a standard 2-1/4" wide belt with double 3/4" billets/buckles as shown below, up to a 42" waist. Belts for waists over 42" would need to add $5.

Here is the original prototype, in brown, with double-bar bridle buckles:

My second one, in black, with simple strap buckles:

I personally prefer this style of belt over the traditional kilt belt that has a huge rectangular buckle. I think the smaller double buckles look more simple and understated for everyday wear. Being from Texas, I'm used to seeing huge belt buckles only on rodeo cowboys or drugstore cowboys, so I naturally shy away from wearing them myself. But the smaller double buckles look very nice to me on a kilt, and work well for everything from casual to semi-dress, even though they're not considered "traditional":

I can offer these belts in one of three colors. Medium brown, dark brown, and black:

If you're interested in one, please PM me. Any combination of color and buckles is open. For the moment, I'm using buckles from Tandy. So if you see a 3/4" buckle that you like, I can probably use it. I can also make custom sporran straps to match the belt.

Just keep in mind that I'm an engineer by day and this isn't a business for me. These belts are made by my wife and I (she is a professional leather worker, master leather tooler, saddle maker) in our spare time. These are not off-the-shelf items - they are hand-made custom belts. So they won't be perfect like a factory/machine created item, and the shipping will not be immediate. Probably at least a week.

Looks great, Tobus. IMHO, the simpler buckle used in conjunction with the black belt gives the air of understated elegance.

Nice belts there tobus,

The look of them reminds me of my RAF stable belt which is material with two buckles simaler to yours exept they are worn with the buckles over the left hip.

If i hadnt just had a really bad experiance with parcelforce i receving a kilt from WPG... I would like one of your belts, mayb another time.
