    Custom Flask by Moosedog

I have a present waiting for me when I get back home. I received an email from Moosedog that a package had been delivered to my porch. Unfortunatley, I am traveling and am not able to get it. I asked my wife to get the package off the porch and tell me what it was.

Moosedog had promised a sporran belt in appreciation to making a kilt for her. So what did I find? My wife opened the package and gave me a description. Moosedog was kind enough to send some pictures:

The celtic shield knot is what I have sewn into the kilts that I make. The Shield Celtic knot is a symbol for protection. The ancient Celts used it to decorate the shields of warriors, the clothing of children, and to protect the sick.

I am so glad to have one of my own.

BTW - WMCIII are my initials and I didn't even know she knew them.

    Thanks Moosdog

    Very nice!

    Wallace,

I am so glad you like this! And thank you for the kind words. I hope you enjoy it as much in person as in the photos.

    X-Markers,

Yes, I did make it myself! When I saw what nice handwork Wallace put in on my kilt I wanted to create something by hand for him. He had included a business card and I saw the shield pattern he had sewn into my kilt...now, I had asked what he wanted and had intended to make him a brown sporran strap, but unbeknownst to both of us Wallace's wife had already ordered a custom brown belt and strap from CavScout and a Thorfinn sporran from Turpin for Christmas!

So I tried to come up with a suitable accessory. Turpin kindly described the sporran color to me so I could at least come close.

My brother taught me to carve leather over forty years ago, and I love it. I made this while sitting in front of my fireplace looking at the lighted Christmas tree and surrounded by dogs, family, and friends. So it has a lot of good energy as well as room for spirits.
