    Deer Antler Kilt Pin

So I had some old dear antlers laying around and not really having anything to do with them I come up with the great idea to make a handle for my sgian dubh. As I was playing around at work cutting the antler I was hit with another idea, why not make a kilt pin from the points. Easy right

    So here is the photos.

I started by selecting a nice point that had some good weight to it.

using the new dremel tool I got for Father's Day (I am not a Father by the way).

I smoothed a section on the back for the bale.

Using some loctite epoxy I glued the bale to the antler.

    Ending up with this.

After the epoxy had set here is what it look likes on my Black Stewart Kilt.

It was real easy and make a nice casual kilt pin I think. And I am pleased with how it turned out as I am not crafty at all.

Nicely done and a nice write up, where did you get the bale? I've been looking for one for a kilt pin idea of my own.

Looks great, plus it gave you an excuse to run out and get a new power tool.

Thanks for the pictures. This is an idea I've been wanting to try since last Christmas, when I was given a set of antlers to use to make things.

Now that school is out, if I can minimize the Honey-do list, maybe I can get to it!
