    "Denim" needles

Do any of you use or recommend denim needles for sewing x-kilts? I was wondering since my machine sometimes binds/bogs through multiple layers of twill, like the waistband.

Steve Ashton turned me on to big "ball point" needles. I don't know if denim needles are ball points or not, but a size 18 or 20 ball point will bull its way through 5 or 6 layers of tight poly/cotton that will choke a regular needle.
