Different Use For an Old Purse!
So, awhile back my mother picked up a very nice purse from a thrift store for herself. She used it for awhile but then one of the straps broke and was beyond repair so she handed it to me and suggested I make a sporran from the black leather. I looked at it and tried to think of how I'd go about doing so. Eventually I gave up, the leather would be really soft and hard for me to work with to make a sporran since my leatherworking skills are fairly low.
However... today I had another idea for a different, new kilt/attire accessory...
VAMBRACES (or Bracers).
I looked at the purse again, put my forearm against the panels and BAM the amount of leather was just right! So I set to cutting out the two large square panels, then shaping them further. I ran out later in the afternoon to the craft store I used to work at to grab some leather for lacing them up and, although I had thought of just using black, I found some in red, and decided why not have some flare, eh?
I took a few pictures of the project and essentially it as a finished project. I finished one brace and the other is cut, just needs to be punched and laced.
So, here it is, my new accessory!
(sorry the picture quality is so poor, I took them with my phone)

Very creative. Good use of a used piece of good leather. Well done.
I don't believe the idea is to arrive in heaven in a well preserved body! But to slide in side ways,Kilt A' Fly'n! Scream'en "Mon Wha A Ride" Kilted Santas

Do please forgive my ignorance, but what are vambraces and why would one wear them?

Wikipedia link on vambraces
I am however unsure why one would wear them, I do know I will not be wearing a pair anytime soon.

I assume you plan to wear these to renfairs, and other make-believe medieval events?

Possibly, but I may just wear them for the heck of it. Just another something to be a little more strange and unique really.

Vambraces are a big thing among metal heads over here, and getting popular with the goth and/or emo crowd (I can't always tell the difference, sorry). I think yours look the part!
