Distressed leather and coyote face sporran

I'll be coming back and updating this thread as work progresses.

This is what 26 square feet of stone tanned cow hide look like.

One of the great things about this leather is it distresses so nicely, sort of like an old bomber jacket. It's going to make a great brown leather sporran. Here is the front and back piece cut out.

The wife will also be trying her hand at making me a full face sporran. Here is the coyote face and a rabbit hide which matches the coyote color perfectly. Almost looks like one animal.

The face needs to be soaked in some borax and water to soften, then be laid out properly and allowed to dry.

As we make progress I will be adding pictures to the thread.
.. the kilt had concealed a blaster strapped to one thigh and a knife to the other. He was aware of the present gentle customs against personal weapons, but he felt naked without them. Such customs were nonsense anyhow, foolishment from old women - there was no such thing as "dangerous weapons," only dangerous people.

That is one huge cow. I too will be very interested in the outcome. Someday I will try sporran building... When I get tired of sewing kilts maybe.

I've been bouncing around the idea of a coyote mask myself. I'm very interested to see how this turns out.

Face looks kinda like the coyotes that die naturally alongside rez roads up here. Nice match with the fur. You're a braver man than I to take on such a difficult project. Bet it turns out beautiful though.
