DIY 2 Cantles Work in progress

Here Are pics of a couple of cantles I am working on.

The first is nickel-silver with pewter. The pewter parts came out dark but they are all silver colored.
The second is Bolivian Rosewood with pewter.

    Comments?

They are both gorgeous. I love the rosewood one, but I'm allergic to rosewood!

The two metals one does it for me - the simple elegance of it. But both are desirable.

Personally, I like the metallic one better. But then, that's just my taste. They are both beautiful.

They are two beautiful cantles, though I prefer the metal one too. The wooden one is a great idea and is something that even I could attempt, not having great metal working skills. Will you have a lip around the top of the cantles to go over the back of the sporran when it is closed? (Don't know the technical terms ). Will you be using them yourself on sporrans? I would love to see them when they are on sporrans.

Thanks for showing them to us.

This is just as much like me criticizing, say, a Buddy Guy guitar lick . . . but I think the wooden cantle would benefit from both a beveling of the edges, and a nice six or eight coats of tung oil. Other than that, looking very sharp!

Neither are finished. This is just the preliminary of both.

Both look good and looking forward to seeing the finished product. Where did you find the fittings?

    Brian

    All from Ebay
Found the thistle pins from 2 sellers in the UK, and the celtic rectangles from
    LeatherRush a store on Ebay.

Hope to have at least one of them finished in the next couple of weeks. Will post progress
