Re: DIY Angora Sporran
That looks great so far! Nice to see so many talented craftsmen in here. What else are you planning to do to it?

Very nice! I really like that "cantle" - I think the different shape (and the fact that it is hinged) will really make it stand out. I also noticed it has an empty oval centered on the front - do you plan to have anything (a monogram, perhaps?) engraved there?
I'm excited to see how this turns out!
Also, I really like the tartan you've used as a backdrop!

Looks like a fine start to my eyes; can't wait to see the next steps in the progress. The cantle is a very nice design. I really like the different shape, and the fact that it is hinged makes it all the better.

The "cantle" looks, to me, like the top of a ladies' handbag (considering the clasp and the rings for a shoulder strap/chain). Still it's a lovely piece and a good size for repurposing. Should look splendid with the angora in place!
Will you just remove the rings and file down that surface?

It is! I had been looking for over a year for a nice cantle or sporran for formal events without luck. I saw an Edwardian era sporran with a similiar style cantle to the re-purposed Victorian purse frame shown so I bought it. I removed all of the purse section and have yet to grind down the mounts for the chain. Once it is completed I think it would be difficult to tell it was re-pursed I have the angora hide and rayskin and was considering using the ray for the front cantle top. I would like to replicate a Victorian look. Any ideas?
