    Dress Sgian Dhu

I just finished the blade today and was curious if this is a style people like. The blade is 4 1/8" long and is 1095 toolsteel that I differentially quenched and is 3/16" wide. The handle is water buffalo with an ivory spacer and the pommel is carved with a moonstone set in it. Have to make the sheath yet since I ran out of motivation midday. Any input is welcome. Thanks.

Very simple and clean design but classic. To make a a sgian like this your workmanship has to be very good. I like the moonstone.

+1. I like the black of the handle especially. At first I thought it was ebony!

Sounds like this knife is made to do some work, not just look good. Very clean, attractive design.

I'm wondering about the size though? 4 1/8" long is pretty massive for a knife generally worn in the top of one's hose... my sgians are more like 3" blades, 7" overall.

It sounds a little big, but that is some impressive work. Like another post said, a simple design requires good craftsmanship...nowhere to hide mistakes.

    Very nice!!

    I like it!

I've always had an issue with "small" bladed sgian dubhs (I prefer 4" myself) that aren't of much use for anything else except for opening letters. Yours looks like a real working blade.

Very nice indeed 4" blade seems good to me, I think I have enough hose to conceal that in

I would wear that blade with GREAT satisfaction. Never been one to seek
the envy of others, but I'm 110% sure I would have it if I showed up with
    that blade in my sock.

And I've always thought standard available blades too small.
