    Dress Sporran pics and measurements?

I am beginning to make a dress sporran using a chrome plated purse making mouth (the clam-shell kind that open and close). I am wondering if anyone would measure the length/height and width of a typical dress sporran, so I can get mine in the right ballpark. I am also using a thistle I bought at the Foothills games in Hendersonville, NC from Hyde and Heddle. It was supposed to be a cap badge from the Reserve Battalion. I was expecting one with some kind of clasp on back, but it had two loops perpendicular to the face of the badge. I am putting it on the inside middle of the clasp.

YES! I am TOO CHEAP to just buy one, so I am trying to make one based on pics alone. Also, me being me, I am trying to make a fur/chrome one that is FUNCTIONAL as a sporran, with an opening and closing mouth.

    Thanks for any responses,

My white rabbit is 9" tall, 7.5 at the widest part of the base and 5" before the top of the pear shape. My Caubeen has the badge w/ the two loops and a cotter pin arrangement. Maybe the military type had that attachment mechanism. O'Neille
Cowards die many times before their deaths; the valiant never taste of death but once. Of all the wonders I yet have heard, it seems to me most strange that men should fear; seeing that death, a necessary end, will come when it will come. --William Shakespeare, Julius Caesar

    THAT actually makes sense!

    Also, thanks for the measurements!

Mods, If you'd like, move this over to the DYI section (I just realized it was there).
