    Faux Sgian

Here is a a rough of an all wood Sgian Dubh I'm working on for carrying when a real one may not be appropriate, or legal.

My question is this; does the blade look too short in proportion to the hilt?

For what you are making it for, it looks fine! I am also making a Sgian Dubh for those times when a real one won't or can't suit. But I'm going to make a "Sgian Don't" - meaning it will have a beer opener instead of a blade.....

I think it looks fine, good idea.

I'd make the 'blade' a bit longer and thicker so it sits better balanced in your sock (more tip heavy)
Although it's wood, it may still appear a bit too sharp and pointy to anyone who would have objected to a real blade in the first place so it might be safer to have it very rounded at the tip.
