First sewing project-Beret
Now that the sewing machine is up and running, I decided to tackle a relatively simple project. I have always wanted a beret so I decided to make one. I bought 1/2 yard of black acryli-felt from Joannes,(they had no wool ), and set to work.
I botched my first attempt badly. After reformulating my plan, I decided to make the crown a bit wider and change the order of assembly from what the online instructions said. Heres the result.

It came out a bit too big for me, but overall I think it turned out well.
I look like a dork in it

I was going to give it up for adoption on the board but my girlfriend showed up and decided she wanted it. Sorry guys. It looks much better on her than it does on me.

Theoretically there is no difference between theory and practice...
...but there is practically !

Well, good luck with the next one. Sounds like it worked out ok though.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

The girls love it when you can make them stuff! I made Dana a seatbelt purse out of some stuff that was given to me.

Congratulations on completing your first (of many) sewing projects. I think it is great that it worked out to be a gift to the girlfriend.
She looks good in it.

Steam Iron term.
A hard surface with a blanket or towel spread flat on it.
Bonnet placed on same upside down.
towel flat on underside (now upper) of rim seam.
Steam applied through towel to acrylifelt.
Result should be a sharp perimeter seam, so that the bonnet top is fairly flat.
Now a pom of your gf's colour applied to the top center and your golden.
