You know why this isn't going well?

    I know.

It's because it's tartan, not plain twill or camo, and I'm doing most of the work on it in the mornings, and not drinking any whisky while I sew.

Alan, you merely need to resort to that tried-and-true method of holding fabrics in place temporarily - basting! Better than pins in situations like this.

I've never understood this. Won't it just make the pleats soggy?

The fell is 8 inches. All the other pleats have lined up acceptably...not PERFECTLY, but quite acceptably. This one refuses. How can two stripes in a pleat be lines up just fine, but the one that's higher up be a full 1/4 inch off?

    *snarl*

No biggie. I only have to hand-sew maybe all of about 9 inches of pleats. Not a big deal. But I reserve the right to be annoyed about it.
