    Handfasting Cloth

I ordered 1 yard of Cameron of Erracht Ancient to use for a handfasting ceremony in my upcoming wedding. I was wondering if anybody had a good write-up or source of information to make something presentable. I was thinking a double thickness of it with double fringe all around would work well. I think about the size of a scarf should be fine.

That's what a lot of couples do, as a matter of fact. There are several ways to go about it. There are ceremonies that use 6 cords for 6 bindings (which I personally like best) and the variety where you use a length of tartan. Using a fringed sash is a very good (and practical!) way to go about it.

Congratulations. Can we get pictures when you're done?

My wife and I used handfasting in our wedding this summer.

    http://www.rosehavendesigns.com/handfasting.html is a good website.

unfortunately, I cannot post attachments, otherwise I would post the cord we used.

Lucky. Our priestess canceled at the last minute and with about 2 weeks to go, we could only get a Christian minister. (Her family made us have it where we grew up, not where we were living. We had about 5 alternate people to perform the ceremony had it been in Michigan, but Ohio requires the person be registered/licensed with the state, and of all the people we know, I was the only one with said license. )

My wife and I repeated our vows in a Handfasting ceremony on our 30th anniversary in Jan of 2007.

We just had our 5 year anniversary, I tried to get my wife to go to the Ren Fest on 'romance weekend' because they have a vow renewal thing there that weekend, but she wanted to wait a few weeks to save up for a dress.
