Thought I'd add a bit more about my 2 at a time method. I start the toes individually, setting the first aside on another pair of needles as I work the second. I then do the same for the heels. For my wife's socks with the lace panel on the side, after I worked the heels I reoriented the socks so the toes were pointing out away from each other so I could work with both lace panels facing towards me.

Another knitter here. I'm going to try to add everyone on Ravelry, but if I miss you, please send me a friend request there!

I have been knitting for about a year now. I have made 4 pairs of kilt hose, a sally hat for my wife, and a sweater. I am currently working on a pair of fancy cabled socks, and am going to start a knitted balmoral!

I am Pleater on Ravelry.
I went to a machine knitting exhibition at the weekend and was able to resist the yarn, right up until the last few minutes, then I took a sack and filled it up with whatever took my fancy.
A fair bit of it is suitable for socks, some light khakhi to go with various camo kilts, a blue/white tweed, a plain brown, the rest is going to make jackets and jerseys - so I will not be short of something to knit - for about the next 20 years or more, if I am lucky.

I have a stash of that yarn, and a bonnet is one of the projects I'd considered.

It's been ages since I've been here on XMTS but I hope to check it out a little more often now that I have a computer again.
BTW, great thread! I'm Bittybee on Ravelry and the moderator for Kilt Hose and Flashes forum there.

HI!
I am learning to knit. Starting with a simple scarf to get my hands used to the movement and my brain used to counting while doing something else

Jake | Using ribbing or other designs means you don't have to count, and makes it more fun!
