Talking Here 'tis! Plain jane kilt....

So it's pretty much done, my plain jane kilt. All I have to do is deconstruct the fringe edge on the front apron. Hidden heavy duty snap closure, clean lines all the way around. Pretty comfy, cotton, sewn down pleats (hand stitched, you can't even see them!)

Total cost? 23 bucks plus ten hours of my time. I even had the perfect thread match at home. That's a full six and a half yards of fabric! w00t!!!!!1!one!

It apparently comes with the superpower of making my torso disappear!

GB, A lady might wonder at your motives.... but I took one of the pleats too. Silly me sat down in the thing before I took the pleats photo. Gorram cotton.

And here's one from when I was working on sewing the pleats down... the ones above my finger haven't been stitched yet... the one i'm pointing to and those below it have been. I've never done such tiny detailed work... oi!

I managed to only get one blood droplet on it... I pricked my fingers so much! Next time i'm going to be safe and do something in a red plaid.

P.S. Does this plaid have any affiliations? I don't think so, but I don't know a lot about them. Figured you lot might know.

    Here's a closeup

nothing sexier than a bonnie lass wearing a kilt.

It looks to me like there's a yoke across the back. Doesn't that make it a wrap skirt, not a kilt?

Splinty.Next time you might want to try one in Tweed.I'm working on one now.
Tweed holds a pleat a lot better than cotton, and its very soft and comfy and the cost is not a lot more than cotton if you shop around.
The tweed i'm using is four yards double width that gives me a full eight yards, and i paid under twenty bucks for it from Hobby Lobby.
Yes, Hobby Lobby does sale fabric if you guys did'nt know that.
