Homemade Sgian Dubh - Opinions wanted

I wanted to attempt to make my own sgian dubh. I did a variation on the traditional blade, the blood gutter is actually open through the blade. The crest is the Military Police regimental crest (my regimental affiliation). THe blade is stainless steel, and the bolster is walnut. I still have to do a final polish on the blade and hone the edge, and stitch the sheath together (waiting for the leather cement to dry.) But, what say you lads so far?

"My beloved America, thank you for your children. If your children want to become soldiers I will train them. When they are hungry I will feed them. When they are thirsty I will give them water. When they fight for freedom I will lead them. When they are unsteady on the battlefield I will motivate them. If they die on the battlefield I will bury them. So help me God."

I like it. If you don't want to stick it in your hose top, I know a bunch of people who do!

Nice work - what did you use for the blade?

That's awesome. I've been thinking of trying to do one also. I've got plenty of stag horn around for the handle. I just need the step by step to get the rest done. Also there were some damascus blades on ebay. They were made just for doing Sgian Dubh's too.

    Nice...

The blade was a piece of stainless steel flat I had laying around. I started working it, and the next thing I knew, the blade was taking shape. Blades tend to have a mind of their own, and this one seemed to need an open blood gutter.
