    Horse Hair Sporran completed

I finished the sporran late last night. It may sound like a tall tale, but I actually broke my last needle on the very last stitch. Anyway, here are the photos. All take against MacLean hunting ancient kilt.
    Inside:

    Close up of top:

Full length (sorry about the wierd spot, I need to clean my camera):

Playing dress-up. This is a 3 button jacket that I converted. I am not sure of the look. My wife likes it though.

Dress-up 2. This is a tweed jacket that I had when I was a bit thinner. I converted this one as well. Since it is the recent concensus that jackets are usually left unbuttoned, it fits fine.

It was quite a project. It could have turned out better, but it is good enough for my satisfaction. When you do something like this, you get a very good appreciation for those who make and sell custom sporrans. You also understand the price tag that usually goes along with them. It is hard and meticulous work.

I welcome any and all critiques, good and bad...on both the jackets and the sporran.

    Thanks,

    T

Man, I love the red lining leather! What kind of leather is it?

So with that said, the overall look of that is really nice. I like it a lot. And I don't normally like horse hair sporrans. I'd actually wear that. Now... if you can make a full mask that I don't find revolting, I'll be genuinely impressed!

It is just red garment weight leather. Not sure of the thickness. I have a quarter in the pic for reference.

I thought it looked heavier than the pig skin lining leather that I use. I like the look of mass that it has. And I never even thought of using any color other than black for lining! What a great idea!

***EDIT*** And I just figured out why I couldn't tell what it was! You sewed it on the inside with the flesh side out! That does give it a nice texture.

I'm extremely impressed on both the sporran and jacket (but especially the sporran), however it looks a bit long. Maybe shorten it so it doesn't go past the kilt?

It is a little long. When I was finishing it, my wife, the chief measurement taker, was asleep, so I had to measure it myself. It is a little tricky measuring something as dynamic as hair.

I got the red-in-black idea from one of Artificer's sporrans. IT looked so cool that it was not possible to not do it.
