Hi all.
Here is the making of my first x-Kilt.

You could see the masking tape use. And the my own mods.

Thanks Alan and Tartan Hikers for your instructions.

Some heavy maths and complicated Diagrams are a must for make an X-Kilt (Just Kiding)



A lot of space is important too.



Folding, folding, folding, folding.



Ironing, ironing, ironing, ironing.



How I use the masking tape? Now you can see.



Happy and proud! Well, proud to wear it in this "Macho Land" (Maybe Im the first Kilted man here in Honduras) But not much proud of my Ironing skills.



A couple of buckles "ala traditional", NCSHS® (No Chain Sporran Hanger System). Actually is not an Sporran, is a "lady bag" with the strap tied and rolled inside. It work for now.




Thats it. Now i want to hear some feedback. Critics and greetings. LOL

Just be pacient and metodic! And of course drink some guiness in the process. mine have some mistakes cause there aren't guiness here and I have to drink pilsner. You know, "Is beter than nothing"

It looks great! The straps, sporran and belt all suit it and you perfectly. Casual and rugged--nice look!

Is it knife-pleated in the back? Can't tell from the photos--

Suggestions? I see the front apron curling a bit--you have left plenty of room in the pleats over the legs, it looks like. I'm not too bothered by the "Utilikilt horn look," especially with a narrow apron, but some are...When making an alternative kilt like this I usually try to "pre-curve" my apron and stitch it that way on the machine--kind of the same idea as easing and stretching the wool when making the apron on a traditional kilt. That way it curves around me instead of being prone to flaring.

Also the ends of your straps will probably continue to ravel a bit so unless you want them shaggy, a single line of stitching will limit it, or turn under and stitch for a cleaner look.

But I think overall a great job, and I do love the masking tape!!! Thanks for sharing it with us.

there are box pleats in the back.

The front apron curling issue seems happend due a bad Ironing skill. Cause when I just finish it it wasnt curly, maybe becaouse all the repeatly ironing for make it. Then I wash it, came out of the maching like a really mess. Then I ironing and take the pics.
Another cause of that curl could be that I drive with the sporran in the middle of my legs. maybe that cause the curling.

BUT probably is what you are saying.

The next Kilt I will try your precurve system (don't understand completly yet) and maybe a full apron.

I put some stichs in that straps. but the unravel hide it.

I looking for some bronce rings for the sporran hangers but only found silvered.

Hablo Un poko, pero no muy bien. I took spanish in college, but don't use it often. My keyboard doesn't seem to have the spanish puntuation either, laugh out loud! Having a little trouble with spelling too.
