A 6.5 yard HAND SEWN in a BEAUTIFUL 10 ounce, wool, Dress Stewart.

I know everyone hates posts like this that are sans photos, but... too bad. The kilt will be unveiled at Arizona Ren. Fest this Saturday. There will be many a photo taken at that venue, many of which should find their way into the homes of X-Markers everywhere.

Just a little preview-like info:
I went with the interior strap on the left. Almost looks like something is missing on that side.

I did cheat a little on the waist... I got a tiny bit lazy and simply rolled everything over. Still looks good to me. You guys can pass judgement on me when I post pics.
The straps are suede. Gray suede. As in the same gray suede I used to make the sporran seen in this thread. They go so very well with the Dress Stewart tartan, it's mind boggling.

Anyway... I promise photos when I return to Maine from Arizona. Until then... he he he.

I've been on a sub that's done that... and then some. On my first boat, during "post shake down trials," we had to do a full blow from test depth. I can't tell you the exact number, but I can say "in excess of 800 feet." A full blow means we dump the entire contents of our emergency air banks into the main ballast tanks. I forget the exact number, but that's A LOT of 4500psi air being dumped from DEEP. End result... the whole boat leaves the water at a 20+ degree up angle. Totally fun.

BTW... I'm in Phoenix now. Keep jonesin' for those pics.

Must be difficult to maintain steerageway in the Arizona canal...

And I'll tell you it's great fun to "jump" a tank ditch in a tank doing 45 MPH+... unless you hit the far side and stop dead (literally) or don't quite make it through all the concertina wire and spend the next 5 hours cutting it out of your sprockets with bolt cutters.

I thought I had posted this last night, but evidently it didn't work, so here it is again.

I promised pics of the newest kilt in my arsenal, and here they are.

These were taken after the AZ Ren Fest, once we got back to the hotel.

The doublet/vest was made by the wife. The Jacobite shirt that is sort of hidden by the doublet was made by the wife. Boots were something I bought from Silvermane, a ren faire vendor located in Haverhill, MA. The sporran is the very one I link to in the top post of this thread.
So basically, wwith the exception of the boots and belt, everything you see there was created by my wife or myself.
