    A Kilt for Mrs. Eujeankilt

Ok, Ok, I know kilts are for men. I tried that argument for the past four years, but a wise woman friend pulled me aside after a rant about kilts are for men and told me that I would end up making one for Mrs. Eujeankilt. Deep down I knew she was right. This year we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary and so I gave her a coupon good for the kilt of her choice. She chose a poly/cotton twill in tan, probably a 10 or 11 oz weight. She also chose box pleats and cargo pockets. I bought the fabric a month or so ago and this week-end I built it for her. I based on our own Alan H's X-kilt with modifications. Ladies and gentlemen of X-Marks, I present to you Mrs. Eujeankilt in her first Eujean Kilt. You might notice a bit of red on the pleat edges-I use colored pencil to mark the pleats up. (So far it has washed right out of other kilts I have made.) Obviously, I haven't washed the this kilt yet. She's tickled to wear it.

    Pleat shot with pocket.

    With a little attitude.

    What a wonderful kilt!

Sorry we didn't get to visit with you on our recent trip up the coast, but you were obviously busy making this great kilt!

Guid on ye, lad! It looks like you did a fine job, and have a happy Mrs. to boot! If you hadn't told us about the red pencil I'd have thought you used a red or pink thread to stitch the pleats, which I think would be very attractive.

congrats on the anniversary. May your next 25 years be happier than the first 25, and remember, 50 is the golden anniversary. You'll have to make a golden kilt!

Nicely measured! I like the way the sewn down part of the pleat create a form fit without hugging or creeping as the ladies say. Well Done!

Btw, would this be a "Skilt"?

That's a fine looking kilted skirt, and a fine looking lass. I plan on trying my hand at making some x-kilts as soon as I manage to pick up a good used sewing machine - I only hope that mine look half as good as the work that you've done.

Do those cargo pockets remove leaving just the flap behind on the kilt?

Lovely job! And a very nice fit. She looks great in it too.

BTW, there's a great product on the market you can get at quilting stores that you can use to mark your fabric. The marks disappear with cold water.

I've personally used the Fine Line Marker for cotton twill and blends, it's the bee's knees. The marks never come back. I wish I could say the same about the Mark-B-Gone fading marker. The marks will fade but sometimes come back.

    Anyway, grats on your anniversary.

Mrs. Eujeankilt looks great, Dale! Good work on the kilt, and congratulations to you both on your anniversary.
