Question matching wool/yarn to tartan green

This is almost exactly the colour of the deep green in a MacDonald tartan, isn't it... but not quite.
After finishing the black hose for my significan tother he keeps hinting a green pair would complete the set nicely... problem is finding a green sock suitable wool that is ideally fiance proof (e.g. machine washable) and a close match to that peculiar green.

Has anyone here ever found a good match in that green? Any help would be much apprechiated.

Yeah, and the first who suggests Argyle hose get's strangled by me. I'm not THAT dedicated...

Are you interested in the yarn or the socks?

If you are interested in socks (hose) try the O Basic ones at sockdreams.com in Hunter Green.

    Here's the web-site:

Have you tried to find someone in your area that handles Cascade Yarns? They have a sample that appears the close match.

That looks like a very good match. I'll have to woe any of the American knitters I know into a wool shop to have a look at it. So far this green looks the closest to Kilt Green (sorry to the senior forum member, I'm sure this green has a proper name somewhere, but I don't know it.

Thanks - I'll have a look there. But NO Arrrrgyles. I never knit anything I can't pronounce as a principle... well not really. But hand knitting argyle kilt ose in erhhh rugby player legs size is not my idea of a reasonable effort...

    Thanks,
I actually used the Patons Diploma DK before. It is nice. but the shades of green don't match. It would be a good choice of yarn otherwise. I wears much nicer (I am told ;-)) then the fibre content suggests.
