    My first dress sporran!

As you all know, my parent's 40th anniversary vow renewal is this weekend. I wanted to make myself a dress sporran, anyway, so I thought this was the perfect opportunity! I made it in the color scheme of my parent's party- partly because it's getting worn tomorrow, but mainly because I like the colors! I got the cantel from Stillwater kits. The tassels are horsehair tassels from Tandy Leather. So- Here are some pictures:

I will be adding a leather stiffener to the hide later this week. I didn't think to do it last night when I was stitching it together. I'd do it now, but that would require me to tear apart the stitching and redo it, and I don't have time for that, so I'm just going to stick the stiffener in unsewn.

The bag- notice it's deep enough to be useful, unlike every other modern dress sporran I've ever seen!

EDIT- Notice the bruise under my thumbnail... I hit my thumb with a hammer when I was making my targe... and that was back before Halloween!

    My maker's mark:

Next up- I've been asked to make a hunting sporran!

Very nice - I really like the ox-blood medallion. It lifts the whole sporran from common-place into something special.

Yeah, I thought that would add a little... dare I say... panache!

    Revised! Got the brass chain.

Put in the stiffener... sorta. I screwed it in. I'll sew it later this week.

Cool, I didn't know Tandy had horsey tassels.

Will you be conducting the ceremony?

    Wow!

Man, that's beautiful! I've seen images of lots of dress sporrans, and that's one of the sharpest ones I've run into. Talented, that's you.
